The environment was fun, and the staff was attentive and pleasant. The food came out pretty quick and was absolutely delicious. Everything was packed with flavor. I recommend stopping in and grabbing a bite. Each time we make it to this town, it’s a go-to spot. This time, we got the Louisiana Purchase and the Bayou Platter.
At least 4-4.5 ⭐️. Food was really good. I had the gumbo and shrimp wrap bacon. I have to admit, I was not greatly hungry. So what I ordered was just enough, but I wish I had ordered more. All family members enjoyed their food, so two thumbs definitely way up. Definitely will stop again.
Buzzard Billy’s has been a staple in La Crosse for as long as I can remember, and it continues to deliver a great dining experience. Our server greeted us promptly, and we started with drinks and an appetizer.
For the main course, I ordered the blackened prime rib with a blackened shrimp add-on, along with the fried alligator. The prime rib, offered only in medium well or well done due to the blackening process, was surprisingly tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The blackened shrimp was good, but the up-charge didn’t feel entirely justified. The side vegetables, unfortunately, were a miss—over-seasoned and either steamed or boiled. I only ate the broccoli.
That said, the atmosphere is great, and the restaurant remains a solid choice for a good meal. If you’re in the mood for Cajun-inspired flavors and a fun environment, Buzzard Billy’s is worth a visit!
Would you add anything, or does this capture what you were going for?
This place was so good I ended up going back multiple times while I was in town! The outside is very unassuming, but take a chance and stop in! The staff is extremely pleasant and the food is top notch. My favorite quickly became the crab corn soup, but everything I had was great! It’s also in very close proximity to the conference center and other cute places on Pearl st. Don’t miss this place if you’re in the area! A note: they also have a separate gluten free menu if you have dietary restrictions.
Delicious Creole dishes. I had the crawfish Platter and loved everything bite. Excellent bread pudding as well.
